THIS IS YOUR UNITED WAY

Community Chest funds at that time
supported 8 local agencies. The Chest, as does our United Way,
always maintains an open door policy, welcoming the application
for admission of any agency which meets the prescribed standards.
Generally speaking, the standards are:
› The agency must perform a needed service.
› A local private organization must have a responsible board
of directors.
› It must accept the allocation of funds made by Community
Chest but with a privilege of appealing for a re-determination
of such allocation.
› Conduct no benefits, campaigns or solicitation for financial
assistance except where mutually planned and with the consent
of Chest board of directors.
› Cooperate with other agencies in preventing duplication of
effort.
› To undertake no new lines of service or substantial expansions
of services except with the consent of the Community Chest.
› To keep accurate books and records of account.
› To file at the end of each fiscal year a copy of audit report.
› To give full respect and support to the annual drive.
› To conduct intensive year round program of interpretation and
education.
› Accept and abide by the provision that the Community chest
will not assume responsibility for operating deficits which
are incurred beyond that approved in the annual reviews and
allocations process.
