Meet Bob Hardaway, our 2019 Campaign Chairman

It’s hard to believe that we are already gearing up for the 2019 United Way campaign! It seems like time goes by faster each year.  Looking back, we have had some pretty amazing things happen over the last year.

In 2018, over 55,000 lives were impacted by United Way. United Way focuses on the building blocks of a good life – education basic needs, and health.  This means ensuring that kids are graduating on time with skills to be career and life ready like Aaron, that elderly are able to remain safe in their homes like Sondra, and that adults are improving their basic needs assistance and avoiding risky behaviors like Olivia.

You can learn more about these wonderful United Way success stories on our website - ourunitedway.org.

With great impact comes great responsibility.  I am so pleased to be supporting my longtime friend, Bob Hardaway, as he leads the charge as this year’s United Way of Northwest Georgia Campaign Chairman.

Bob has been involved with United Way for over 20 years and has seen firsthand the impact that United Way has on the community he calls home.  Bob’s passion for United Way and the people of this community is genuine and evident the moment he begins sharing about United Way.

Bob is a graduate of Clemson University.  He has worked at Shaw Industries since 1985. He is the Vice President of Sales and Marketing - Strategic Accounts. When he’s not volunteering for United Way, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Elizabeth, and their three children, Camden, Robert, and Heath (and we can’t forget their two Goldendoodles, Sulli and Copper).

“United Way is important to the people of Whitfield and Murray County, because United Way ensures that we are helping families who need the support. The assistance provided by various United Way Community Partners can be the difference in establishing a strong foundation for families, which in turn creates a stronger community,” stated Bob.

We are igniting this season of giving back to our community by celebrating our Campaign Kickoff and CEO Trike Race on September 17, 2019 from 6:00-8:00pm at Burr Park. This is such a great opportunity for our community to see what we are accomplishing and what we are all about. We invite you to join us.

At the event, Bob, his Campaign Cabinet, and the United Way Board will announce the 2019 campaign goal, followed by the CEO Trike Race.

Barrelhouse will be performing during dinner in the park. Dinner tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for kids 12 and under, sold at the event or in advance on our website at www.ourunitedway.org.

Dinner tickets will provide options from Zaxbys, John’s BBQ, and Cherokee Brewing and Pizza Co. There will also be shaved ice available for purchase from Kona Ice and drinks from Cherokee Brewing and Pizza Co.

Please join me in thanking this year’s Campaign Chairman, Bob Hardaway, as we begin another year of mobilizing donors, advocates, and volunteers to fight for the education, basic needs, and health of every person in our community!

It’s a party in the park benefiting everyone in our community! Live United.
