A Volunteering Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is traditionally associated with hearts, romance, flowers, candy, and the exchange of cards that express love. But have you ever considered a different way to spend your Valentine’s Day?

Volunteering on or around Valentine’s Day is a great way to spread the love to everyone around you. You can bond with your significant other, coworkers, friends, or family while doing something bigger than yourselves this holiday!

Here are a few great ways to volunteer and show love to others for Valentine’s Day:

Open Your Eyes & Heart to Understand the Needs of Others

It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life and overlook the need that’s all around us. When we open our eyes and our hearts we are able to focus our minds on love.

We are then able to see opportunities to make an impact in someone else’s life.

Random Acts of Kindness

Brightening someone’s day with a random act of kindness can make a big difference in their lives! For example:

Leaving a happy note on a random car in the parking lot

Pay it forward - cover the bill for the car behind you in a drive-thru

Leave words of encouragement on a coworker’s desk

Give someone a compliment

Hold the door open for the person behind you

A simple smile can really brighten someone’s day

Don’t overthink your random act of kindness! The simplest things can make a difference.

Volunteer in your Community

There are so many organizations that are impacting lives in a positive way.

By volunteering, you partner with these organizations so they can continue providing assistance and you gain a sense of satisfaction by helping.

Can’t think of places to volunteer? Here are a few ideas:

Volunteer to make Valentine’s Day cards for patients at RossWoods Adult Day Services

Spend time tutoring at the Boys and Girls Club after school

Give love this Valentine's Day by volunteering with a cause you care about.

You can do this by contacting United Way of Northwest Georgia’s Volunteer Coordinator Summer Mosteller summer.mosteller@ourunitedway.org, and she will connect you with one of United Way's Community Partners.

You can also check for opportunities at www.volunteernwga.org

Valentine’s Day is all about spreading love to all those around you. Doing one of these good deeds will make an impact on someone’s life and help you feel the love this Valentine’s Day!
