FIVE OF OUR FAVORITE THINGS TO DO FOR THANKSGIVING

'Tis the season for gratitude, giving, and lots of turkeys. For many people, Thanksgiving is one of the few chances we have all year to gather with our families or chosen families to share a fabulous meal, give thanks for our blessings, and revel in the pleasure of each other's company. Over the years, families and groups of friends often develop their own special Thanksgiving traditions they bring out every turkey day. We've found the best Thanksgiving ideas you can do with your friends and family.

Five of our favorite things to do this Thanksgiving:

1) Watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

The ultimate holiday tradition is marching this way soon. We can’t wait to watch the spectacular showcase of giant balloons, fab floats, exciting performers & more fun. You can watch the 96th parade live on NBC from 9 am-noon Thursday, Nov. 24.

2) Get Everyone Cooking

Everyone in the house can help get dinner on the table. Kids can roll pie dough and mix ingredients together, and other adults can put together their signature dish.

3) Shop Small Business Saturday

At the peak of the holiday shopping season, right between Black Friday and Cyber Monday is Small Business Saturday. This day is designated to encourage people to support small businesses by shopping with them. Dalton has lots of variety of small businesses to shop from!

 4) Have A Marathon of Holiday Movies

There are usually plenty of movie marathons on TV around Thanksgiving. Luckily, you have the perfect excuse to relax on the couch and get in the holiday spirit with classics

5) Support a Cause

At United Way of Northwest Georgia, we are committed to improving lives, inspiring donors, and uniting the community. When you give to United Way of Northwest Georgia, you make a brighter future possible for so many in our community.

Your gift stays local - you’re helping real families and individuals living right here in Whitfield and Murray Counties. United Way of Northwest Georgia looks at the big picture and brings together the resources of social service agencies, faith-based organizations, nonprofits, corporations, private donors, and government organizations to tackle key community issues for the good of all. United Way has the capacity and experience to see long-term trends across the community, identify and respond to emerging problems, and put resources in place for optimum results. You can have confidence that your gift will be used where it’s truly needed, thanks to a locally comprised board of directors and fiscal responsibility through a committee of trained community volunteers. United Way covers the entire circle of life, including children and youth, families, seniors, and people rebuilding their lives. To Live Better we must Live United because That’s the Power of a Community United.
