WLC Lunch & Learn

From a single stitch to a thriving industry.

📅 When: August 11, 2026 | 12-00 PM – 1:00 PM
📍 Where: United Way of Northwest Georgia - 816 S Thornton Ave.

Join the Women’s Leadership Council (WLC) for an engaging Lunch & Learn with local author and educator Rachel Smalley as she brings to life the remarkable story of Catherine Evans Whitener—the young woman whose creativity and determination helped shape Dalton into the Carpet Capital of the World.

Through the journey of her forthcoming children’s book, Tufted: The Stitch and Story of Catherine Evans Whitener, Rachel will explore the rich heritage of our region, the power of storytelling, and the lasting impact one woman can have on an entire community. Along the way, she’ll share insights into Appalachian culture, preserving local history, and why these stories still matter today.

Enjoy lunch, connect with friends, and be inspired by a story woven from innovation, resilience, and a little Northwest Georgia pride.

Registration (includes lunch):
