Youth United Council

Youth United Council

The Youth United Council is a year-long leadership development program for rising high school juniors designed to help students grow as leaders, serve their community, and prepare for future success. Through a partnership with the University of Georgia's J.W. Fanning Institute for Leadership Development and its Youth Leadership in Action curriculum, students gain practical leadership skills they can apply in school, their communities, and beyond.

Throughout the program, Council members strengthen their communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills while exploring community issues, participating in service projects, and connecting with local leaders and nonprofit organizations. These hands-on experiences build confidence, encourage civic engagement, and inspire students to become lifelong leaders who make a positive impact.

Each spring, students are selected through a competitive application process led by United Way of Northwest Georgia's Volunteer Center Cabinet. The program is open to rising juniors who are passionate about serving others, developing their leadership potential, and making a difference in Northwest Georgia.
