Mahjong with a Mission

2026 WLC Mahjong Galentines Night

We couldn’t have asked for a more joyful evening as the Women’s Leadership Council of United Way of Northwest Georgia gathered for our Mahjong Galentine’s Night! The room was filled with laughter, friendly competition, and the unmistakable sound of tiles clicking as more than 90 incredible women came together for a night of connection and community impact.

Tables filled quickly as tiles were shuffled and game faces appeared. Laughter echoed across the room, friendly competition was in full swing, and every bold “Mahjong!” call was met with cheers and a little table-wide celebration. The conversation flowed just as freely as the tiles, making it the perfect mix of strategy and connection.

The Purpose Behind the Play

Yes, the Mahjong tables were beautiful. Yes, the champagne was flowing. Yes, the raffle items were fabulous.

But this event was about more than the game.

Every event ticket purchased, every Women’s Leadership Council membership, and every raffle entry fuels real impact right here in Whitfield and Murray counties. Together, we are investing in financial security, healthy communities, youth opportunity, and community resilience.

When women gather with purpose, incredible things happen.

The Evening’s Highlights

The night began with check-in, hugs, and a celebratory toast. A special thank you to our gracious hosts, Sabine, Rachel, and Brittaney Dossche, and to Julian Dossche for helping welcome guests with champagne—such a thoughtful touch that set the tone for the evening.

United Way President Amanda Burt welcomed everyone and shared a powerful reminder of what the Women’s Leadership Council represents: women leading boldly, giving generously, and creating meaningful change. With more than 260 members strong and over $1.6 million invested annually into local solutions, this group truly embodies what it means to turn passion into impact.

A Community of Women Making a Difference

Mahjong Galentine's Night wasn’t just about the game—it was about gathering women who believe in something bigger than themselves.

The Women’s Leadership Council continues to grow because women in Northwest Georgia understand that when we invest together, we multiply our impact. Events like this are a reminder that philanthropy doesn’t have to be formal to be powerful. Sometimes it looks like laughter, friendship, and a stack of tiles.

That’s a Wrap!

To our incredible Women’s Leadership Council members, sponsors, hosts, volunteers, and guests—thank you. Your enthusiasm, generosity, and heart are what make this event so special.

As one guest shared, “Who knew tiles and philanthropy made such a powerful combination?"

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.

Stay tuned for details about our next Women’s Leadership Council gathering—you won’t want to miss it. And if you’re ready to join this dynamic group of women leaders, we’d love to welcome you.
