If you’ve ever wondered how to find your passion or purpose, here’s a good place to start: help someone else.
At United Way of Northwest Georgia, we see it every day. People stepping up, jumping in, and making a difference in ways big and small. The best part? You don’t have to go far to make an impact. Right here in Whitfield and Murray counties, opportunities to serve are everywhere.
Volunteers are truly the heartbeat of our community. They show up for students, families, seniors, and neighbors in need, helping strengthen education, health, and financial stability across our community. Simply put, the work we do wouldn’t be possible without them.
Spring Break with a Purpose: April 6-10
While some students head to the beach, our Youth United members are choosing a different kind of Spring Break—one filled with purpose.
During IMPACT (Ignite, Motivate, Participate, Act, Connect, Thrive) Week, Youth United members will roll up their sleeves and get to work across our community. They will spend time with participants at RossWoods Adult Day Services, paint and improve spaces at CrossPlains, organize donations and support local food efforts at the Salvation Army in Murray County, help restock Little Free Libraries throughout Whitfield and Murray counties to expand access to books, and partner with the Northwest Georgia Family Crisis Center to support a special community event—making a meaningful impact in every corner of our community.
This week of service proved that making a difference never goes out of style.
National Volunteer Week: April 20-24
This week will be all about celebrating the people who make our community stronger simply by showing up and asking, “How can I help?”
At United Way, we’re excited to recognize these local changemakers at our upcoming Youth and Volunteer Awards Celebration. We’ll be honoring:
• Two Elbert Shaw Memorial Scholarship winners
• United Way’s Youth Volunteer of the Year
• The Connie Woodward Award for Outstanding Volunteerism in Whitfield County
• The Elaine Butler Award for Outstanding Volunteerism in Murray County
• Youth United Council Members
• Youth United Ambassador Members
Be sure to follow along on social media as we highlight the incredible people making our community stronger every day. Find United Way of Northwest Georgia on Facebook and Instagram @unitedwaynwga!

Find Your Purpose—Get Involved!
Here’s the thing: everyone has something to give.
Maybe it’s an hour of your time. Maybe it’s a skill you can share. Maybe it’s simply showing up when someone needs help.
And if your schedule is full, you can still make a meaningful impact. Giving financially is another powerful way to serve. Every dollar you give to United Way goes to work right here in our community, supporting programs and partners that are changing lives every single day.
So, whether you give your time, your talent, or your treasure, you are making a difference.
