WLC Power of the Purse 2024

Registration is closed for this event

The Women’s Leadership Council is hosting its second annual Power of the Purse fundraiser on April 17. The event will unite hundreds of area women who want to build a stronger community by giving, advocating, and volunteering for literacy initiatives and other United Way programs. The Power of the Purse event will feature door prizes, raffles of mid-to-high-end purses, and a luncheon featuring guest speaker Ashley Callahan, a remarkable woman who will share her stories and encourage others. It will be a fun event where women will be encouraged to be strong stewards of their community. (This is a re-branding of our Annual Spring Symposium)

This event will take place at Walnut Hill Farm from 10:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on April 17, 2024

Registration includes lunch
$40 for WLC members (those who donate $1,000 annually per household)
$50 for non-WLC members

Registration & payment are required by April 12, 2024

Meet Kim Kinard Schessler: Keynote Speaker
Kim Kinard Schuessler, an artist, educator, and philanthropist is one of the most popular figurative painters in the southeast. Sourcing paper from each destination she visits, she employs color, texture, and pattern to create collages and paintings that connect the viewer to everyday experiences. Her southern roots, extensive travel, and
love of fashion influence her paintings. Her complex collages evoke human emotions that speak of joy and love. Kim received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Georgia and studied art at Parsons School of Design in New York. She also studied aboard in Cortona, Italy as well as in Dijon, France at the Université of Bourgogne. After graduation, Kim furthered her education and earned an Arts Education degree.

“To date, my greatest sense of accomplishment has been seeing people enjoy my works at places I never imagined- the Hank Aaron Museum grand opening, the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, the conference room at Spanx as well as Spanx products, The Congressional Ladies Luncheon in DC and in periodicals such as INSTYLE, Better Homes and Gardens, The Atlantan, Creative Loafing, and many others. I am an optimist who wants my audience to pursue their passion, find joy in everyday occurrences, and cherish those they love.”

For me, success is the act of giving. Whether it be of my time, my art, my enthusiasm, or just a simple smile. There is no better joy than experiencing the gift of giving. Kim resides between Puerto Rico and New York City. Kim and her husband, Mac Schuessler, have three grown children: Emme, Swann, and Mac III.
